Fun and Easy Party Snacks to Make for Holi

As the festival of Holi approaches, everyone is busy preparing for the celebrations with family and friends. 1. Colourful Chiwda

Ingredients:

  • Corn flakes 
  • Peanuts
  • Almonds
  • Cashews 
  • Boondi (red and green) 
  • Fox Nuts
  • Raisins
  • Roasted rice flakes (poha)
  • Any other namkeen of your choice 
  • Green chillies
  • Sesame seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • Spices - salt, turmeric, red chilly powder, garam masala.
  • Oil

Instructions:

1. Take a kadai, preferably a stainless steel kadai as it distributes heat evenly.

2. Heat oil in it and add sesame seeds, curry leaves, spices and green chilies.

3. Then add roasted rice flakes and all the other ingredients.
4. Mix them well and voila your colourful chiwda is ready!

2. Aloo Bhakarwadi

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Maida
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water, enough to knead a stiff dough

Filling -

  • 2 boiled and mashed potatoes 
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 Green chilies or how much you prefer
  • Fresh Coriander
  • 1 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder 
  • 1/4 tsp Garam masala 
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp amchur powder
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

1. In a bowl/ stainless steel tasla add maida, whole wheat flour, oil, salt and water to knead the dough.

2. In another tasla, add the mashed potatoes along with all the ingredients listed for filling.
3. Roll the dough and cut it into a rectangle.
4. Spread the filling over the dough and roll it into a spiral.
5. Cut the spiral into thin pieces with breadth not more than 1 cm.
6. In a stainless steel frypan, heat up oil and add the cut out pieces for frying.
7. Take them out once golden brown.
8. Your Aloo Bhakarwadi is ready to be served!

3. Rose Gulkand Shots :

Ingredients:

  • Gulkand
  • Rose syrup
  • Vanilla ice cream 
  • Milk
  • Sprinkles 

Instructions:

1. In a bowl/ stainless steel tasla add ice cream, gulkand and rose syrup.

2. Lastly add milk and blend the mixture until it has a smooth consistency.
3. Pour it into shot glasses and garnish with sprinkles.
4. Your Rose gulkand shots are read to be served!
